The Pleasure Chest Review

This next sex toy store has a pretty unique distinction in that it was endorsed by the one and only Halle Berry! The Pleasure Chest is a sex toy store that my roommate actually frequents quite a bit, and so I am finally getting around to see if they are truly any good.

My first reaction when checked out their site was that it looked extremely cute! Unlike most other sites that use a plain white background, they step it up a notch by incorporating plenty of rosy pink throughout the website (even though technically the background is in fact white). The entire aura of the sight is inviting and makes me feel comfortable shopping there. This is especially important when dealing with the sex toy industry, as a poorly designed website can really turn people off and make them feel guilty about shopping for sex toys. But in this case, the beautiful website does not deter anyone away at all.

The one critique I did have was about the site’s logo, simply because it looked… weird. It is basically a bunch of semi-outstretched legs one after the other to create a semi-circle of sorts. Maybe it was supposed to emulate the idea of meditation or like tantric sex or something, but it definitely didn’t resonate with me at all. Note that this didn’t detract too much from the website itself, but it was definitely noticeable and not in a good way. The logo is just about the best way to create a brand as a company, so it was a bit disheartening to see such a beautiful website ruined by the logo.

In any case, I eventually found my way to the dildos section, since a lot of my reviews lately have been with vibrator purchases and I decided to switch things up this time. Each main category of sex toys had their own subsections too which was also very nice. In this case, under the “Dildos” section, I selected the “G-Spot & Prostate” section, and found my sex toy of choice: The Fun Factor Bouncer Dildo (in red). It arrived in three business days which was on the faster side of delivery times (although only by a day or two), and unfortunately I was just getting ready to head to my parents anniversary dinner so I had to wait a few hours to try it out.

When I did finally try it out later that evening though, I loved it. Part of the reason it worked so well was because the shaft itself had moderate ridges, helping to add extra sensations as the toy penetrated me vaginally. Add in the fact that the dildo head was curved and fairly large made meant even more scintillating sensations, this time to my G-Spot. I honestly think every sex toy in their “G-Spot & Prostate” section would feel pretty darn good on my G-Spot, after looking through that page a second time. And probably would feel good on my prostate as well (if I did that sort of thing, which I typically don’t).

The one big thing that I didn’t like was the base of the dildo. It was a flat base and while there were no issues getting the dildo to stand up on its own, the edges of said base were way sharper than I would have hoped. Not enough to cause any physical pain, but definitely enough where you might recoil your hand if you just go reaching for the toy without being careful, which is not something that I want to have to worry about when I’m trying to be in the right state of mind for ultimately achieving orgasm after orgasm. If that edge was sanded down even just a little bit, it would become a non-issue and I would have had absolutely no issues with the toy whatsoever.

Unfortunately, the price was not as justified as I had hoped when I initially bought it. Now don’t get me wrong – I absolutely loved the toy itself (sans the one minor issue I mentioned). But for the $99.95 price tag to be absolutely justified, I probably needed the sex toy to become one of my top five sex toys in my collection. And right now, I would say it is probably top 15. Still one of my favorites, but I have a lot of sex toys LOL. I also noticed that the rest of the site offered a lot of “high-end” products in general, meaning that you need to actually put down some real money for these toys, in hopes that you end up getting a pretty decent bang for your buck as was the case for me. If I had to guess though, I’d say that more often than not, you’d be pretty satisfied with how far your dollar goes here. Maybe you’ll feel like you’re paying just a bit too much like I did, but businesses exist to make a profit, right?

STORE: 8 / 10

OVERALL: 8.3 / 10

BOTTOM LINE: The Pleasure Chest does (almost) everything they can to make sure that your sex toy experience is as pleasurable as it can be from website design to the products themselves. However, like so many other sex toy companies out there, their focus on selling “high-end” sex toys leaves you paying more for your sex toys than you probably should be paying, as even the best sex toys around have limits regarding much they are truly worth. Having said that, my overall experience with this company was a very positive one, and I would be more than comfortable purchasing from them again in the future – as soon as my bank account eventually recovers!
